What is a Podcast

What is a Podcast?

(Wikipedia Definition)

A podcast is a series of audio or video digital-media files which is distributed over the Internet by syndicated download, through Web feeds, to portable media players and personal computers. Though the same content may also be made available by direct download or streaming, a podcast is distinguished from other digital-media formats by its ability to be syndicated, subscribed to, and downloaded automatically when new content is added.

In other words, a podcast is a broadcast over the Internet instead of on the radio. You can use a variety of applications to listen to this broadcast.  You can download the file to your personal computer and play it from there, transfer it to your favorite mp3 player, or even listen to it with iTunes.  iTunes will also allow you to subscribe to a podcast and will automatically tell you when there are new sermons posted. This can be listened to through iTunes or downloaded to your iPod.

Technical Issues

If you are having difficulty with one of these options for obtaining the sermon, there could be a number of causes. The client's computer (your computer) controls how these files play on each machine. To "Listen", through iTunes, you need to have the "m3u" file types associated with iTunes. To play/download the "mp3" file, this could be associated with several different popular programs on your machine: (Windows Media Player, iTunes, QuickTime, etc.) How each file is played or handled will vary from machine to machine.
